Thanksgiving Day Recipes

Fruit Salad

One of the staples on our Thanksgiving Day table is fruit salad. It is always a hit with the kids, especially. And I know they will eat every bite.

  • Domestic Chicky– “I’m so happy to share one of my favorite holiday recipes with you! This is my great-grandma Hart’s Fruit salad – some people call it ambrosia salad or cuppa salad as well, but to me, it’s always great-grandma’s fruit salad.”
  • Lil Luna– “A fresh fruit salad that makes the perfect side dish to any meal! Colorful, healthy, delicious, and filled with all your favorite fruits!
  • The Gracious Wife– “Classic Ambrosia Salad is a quick and easy vintage recipe made with colorful fruit, mini marshmallows, and coconut in a creamy sweet dressing.”

Stuffing & Cranberry Sauce

I don’t know about you, but stuffing and cranberry sauce tastes better out of a box and can. What about you? Are you team canned or homemade?

  • The Carefree Kitchen– “Grandma’s Thanksgiving Stuffing is a classic stuffing recipe that has withstood the test of time.  It has the perfect balance of chewy and moist, sweet, savory, and can be made entirely from scratch, or with some simple shortcuts.”
  • Life in the Lofthouse– “Layers of seasoned chicken, creamy soup, and stuffing all come together in this delicious Chicken and Stuffing Bake! This recipe has been a family favorite for years.”
  • My Organized Chaos– “This Slow Cooker Stuffing recipe takes my Mom’s favorite classic stuffing recipe into an easy holiday side dish that frees up oven space. You’ll want to make this crockpot stuffing recipe for every Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas season.”

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are my weakness, and when my dad makes them, I can eat the whole thing! Although he won’t fork up the recipe, I still look forward to it every year.

  • The Recipe Critic– “The best sweet potato casserole is smooth and creamy, sprinkled with a brown sugar pecan mixture. It’s a sweet and savory side dish that is perfect for the holidays!”
  • Air Fried Dinner Made Easy– “These roasted sweet potato cubes are bites-sized chunks of tender, spiced sweet potato. They are ready to eat in 20 minutes!”
  • One Pot Recipes– “The best, quick, easy, healthy, crispy, oven-baked sweet potato wedges recipe, homemade with simple ingredients in one pan in 30 minutes. Loaded with Italian seasoning! Great as an appetizer, side dish, or snack.

Green Bean Casserole

Green bean casserole is either a hit or miss. Some people LOVE it, while I could do without it.

  • The Cookie Rookie– “If you are hosting a crowd this Thanksgiving, then you have to try this Crockpot green bean casserole! Simple and quick to prep, the slow cooker does all of the hard work leaving your hands free to cook up the rest of the meal.”
  • Family Fresh Meals– “This Smothered Bacon Green Bean Casserole is a simple and tasty way to jazz up the holiday dinner table.  And when I say simple, I mean simple.  Anyone can make this recipe, and believe me when I say, this will be the side dish EVERYONE will be gushing over.”
  • Plain Chicken– “Green Bean & Artichoke Casserole – a delicious twist on our traditional green bean casserole! This is not your Grandmother’s green bean casserole! NO cream of mushroom soup! Fresh green beans, artichoke hearts, onion, Italian bread crumbs, Italian seasoning, heavy cream, parmesan cheese, and French fried onions. Can make it in advance and refrigerate or freeze it for later. A MUST for your holiday meal!”

Jello Salad

Jello salad is another favorite recipe we have at our table. My mom makes the best, and the kids love this one as well. Shoot, if they have some turkey and fruit salad, I’m a happy mom.

  • Julie’s Eats and Treats– “Light, fluffy and creamy Cottage Cheese Jello Salad is a Midwestern classic fluff salad! A mixture of cottage cheese, strawberry Jell-O, crushed pineapple, and Cool Whip makes this a favorite for potlucks, backyard BBQs, reunions, and holidays!”
  • Plowing Through Life– “Lime gelatin, crushed pineapple, cottage cheese, and Cool Whip are mixed together to make Lime Jello Salad with Cottage Cheese. Tart and zesty with a sweet twist this easy vintage green Jello salad recipe is refreshing and delicious.”
  • The Kitchen is My Playground– “Classic Jello salads are family favorites, for sure.  And this layered classic Blueberry Jello Salad is no exception, popping up at potlucks and family get-togethers galore.  With its fruity Jello base and creamy cheesecakey topping, it’s certainly hard to resist!”

Bread

Do you love cornbread or rolls? My grandmother’s cornbread recipe will always be my choice.

  • Kid-Friendly Things To Do– “This Jalapeno and Cheddar Cornbread Using Jiffy as a shortcut is a delicious and moist cornbread that will be a family favorite.  Using Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix and adding a  few extra ingredients makes this an absolutely good to the last bite, easy to make Corn Bread.”
  • Beyond the Chicken Coop– “Cheesy garlic pull-apart bread is stuffed with mozzarella cheese and dipped into an herb garlic butter. Each bite is filled with pure deliciousness.
  • Grumpy’s Honey Bunch– “These Sweet Dinner Rolls are a traditional yeast roll with a fluffy and light texture. Made with bread flour, eggs, milk, and butter, this bread recipe is a buttery, tender sweet roll that is perfect for holiday meals.”

Dessert

Can’t go wrong with a delicious pumpkin pie or pecan. What other types of dessert do you have on your table?

  • Brown Eyed Baker– “Gooey, nutty, and perfectly balanced between salty and sweet, this easy pecan pie recipe is my absolute favorite version and a must-make holiday dessert! With toasted pecans and an unbelievably flaky pie crust, this decadent pie pairs perfectly with fresh whipped cream, a scoop of ice cream, or a drizzle of warm chocolate.”
