Seem to always struggle with finding budget-friendly ways to plan a birthday party? Not the most crafty at DIY projects? Today I am sharing how to plant the ultimate birthday party with some super inexpensive ways to celebrate! Hoping you find some inspiration and ideas for your next party.

Pink cake with a blue tablecloth

First of all, can I just say that I was not anywhere near prepared for our daughter to turn 6. But now that we are here, I’m so excited to see what this year has in store for her. And something really special is our birthdays are a week apart. We get to share this amazing time together and she loves that! Also, the year she was born, her birthday fell on Mother’s Day, so it’s always an amazing time together. I am really excited to share with you how we planned the ultimate birthday party, and I hope you enjoy it. Also, check out her first-grade post to learn a bit more about Brooklynn!

Planning Stage

We started planning her party just about the time little brother had his (in January). She wanted a unicorn and rainbow party, so right away I started a board on Pinterest (I’m a cool mom, remember?). Now, 95% of the things I pinned didn’t happen and the cake she wanted would’ve been $395! Sorry kid, it’s either the cake or the house. So we did our best, and it turned out pretty great.

Invitations

I ordered the invitation off Etsy from Helena Beauty Invite. They were so easy to work with and got them in my inbox within 24 hours. I really appreciate that, especially that I tend to be a bit last minute when it comes to birthday parties. Then, I had an idea in my head to make a banner wall to go behind the cake table. But I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg on it so I decided to completely DIY it!!

DIY Decor

I went to Target and scoured the dollar section for anything sparkly. I found the gold banner to help keep things from slouching down since the dangles were a bit heavy. After that, I found the two strands of white sparkly puff balls and the pink pompom strand as well. Once I had those attached, I taped them in between the rose gold and the gold to keep everything together. When I went to Walmart I found the rainbow ‘6’ balloon and adhered it and WALAHHHHHHH… it was perfect!

The original cake was going to be pricey, so we opted for a delicious sheet cake from Fry’s. The cake topper is from Song Design Shop and showed it to the baker so she could coordinate colors. It was cheaper and we get to keep the house!

They had so much fun jumping, swimming in the pool and of course, we had Subway, her favorite food. For snacks, we had fruit pouches, juice, and cutie oranges. I loved watching her with all her friends, calling the shots, and it hit me that she’s officially growing up. I am so excited to see her grow up into a kind, young lady!!

After the party, we all crashed and enjoyed a nice nap/quiet time. That’s a lot of kids in one house and me being an introvert, needed a moment to myself! I loved having the first birthday at our new home and excited for many more to come. I hope you took somethings away from how we planned the ultimate birthday party, too!
