Do you walk into your full closet and think, what will I wear? Not sure how to piece together items you already have on hand? I will be showing you how to use the items you already own to create a fall capsule wardrobe using essentials in your closet. And you won’t need to buy a single thing.

Sweaters hanging on rod

Happy fall, yall! This is my most favorite season for so many reasons. I love the way the weather cools down, all the stores are filled with warm scents and sounds, our home is filled with seasonal decor and yummy treats and I get to break out my fall wardrobe! After you are done reading this post, head on over to my wardrobe recipe post to read on how to create even more outfits!

When I think of capsule wardrobes, a certain number of items pop into my head. Usually, you would have maybe 32 items in the entire wardrobe that you would pick from during the season. That’s great, but for me, I can’t keep it to a specific number. When you add in clothes, shoes, and accessories, I have more than that. So for me, I think of it as a certain type of clothing for that specific season. I also try and keep my hangers the same amount throughout. If I only have so many hangers, that’s all the clothing I keep. You don’t need to purchase more hangers to accommodate the amount of clothing you have. Purge and pair down to only use the number of hangers you have on hand.

Categories

The different categories I have in my fall capsule wardrobe are:

  • Long Sleeve Shirts
  • Short-Sleeve & Tanks
  • Sweaters
  • Kimonos
  • Boots
  • Tennis Shoes
  • Hats
  • Pants

Other then that, I put everything away. I may keep out one or two pairs of shorts, but that’s more for working around the house. Everything else I store back into my container and put it away till spring. Here in Tucson, fall time is the most perfect weather. I like to think we suffer through summer and earn the cool weather that comes in the fall and winter. When it’s cool enough for sweaters but not any colder than that, I love it because I don’t do well in the cold.

Ways To Style

Today I am styling 3 different outfits for you, 2 different ways, to show how all the pieces work together so it’s easier to get dressed every day. I would love to know which of these outfits is your favorite! Each one will be using items from the others to create even more combinations! I never thought that could happen until now.

Style #1- Leopard Kimono

I love a good kimono. You can wear it all year round, they are so versatile and so many different types. This is my absolute favorite, so I wanted to pair it with some of my other favorite pieces in this set.

Style #2- Pumpkin Duster

This duster was my fall find last year, and I was so excited when I pulled it out of my bag again. The color is perfection, and I can wear it with so many things. I highly recommend a mid-length duster like this one, or else you can close it in car doors and step on it, which is very unfortunate. Sadly, the color is not available this year, but I did find a very pretty red shade for you!

Style #3- Floral Pants

These floral pants are a dream. They are not tight so they don’t cling where you don’t want them, but they are fitted enough to keep their shape. I love the high waist and really enjoyed wearing the cropped top with it!

Well, there you go! I had such a fun time creating this post for you, and I hope it gave you some inspiration to get into your closet and discover those hidden items you may have forgotten about. I also keep a bin in our closet that I can put the items I no longer want! It makes it easy to really keep my items to a minimum, without any extra effort. Which outfit was your favorite? Let me know down below!!
