Spices on spoons

One of the spaces in our kitchen, besides the pantry, that gets messy the quickest is out spice cabinet. For some reason, I can never get it just right, and things are always out of place. I knew I really needed to hunker down and focus on this space. Today, I am sharing our space, and sharing with you how to organize your spice cabinet.

The Location

Our spice cabinet is located in between the pantry and the microwave, so I needed it to serve both of those. I also have my baking supplies in this cabinet, so I needed it to flow easily, and to really be able to tell the difference when you look at it. Baking supplies and spices coexist in the same cabinet, but they needed to be clearly separated. Meshing two things together can get very overwhelming and confusing, especially if you have a guest who is looking for a specific thing.

Racks

The number one product that I feel everyone should have in their spice cabinet, is an organizing rack. I have two different ones, for two different solutions, and they both work perfectly. I have a spinning, two-tiered for my smaller spices bottles and most used spices. And I also have a three-level bamboo shelf. This is used for my new/doubles, and for things I don’t normally use.

Here are a few other really great options. It doesn’t matter what it looks like, so long as it works for you!! Which ones are your favorite?

Utilizing Vertical Space

Not only do I use the horizontal shelf for all my spices, but I also utilize the inside of cabinet doors OR the walls of the space as well. This is where I hang my sifter and measuring spoons. Then it is up off the bottom and out of the way. For me, I use command hooks, but here are a couple of other cute ways to hang items. I found all of these on Pinterest, so come on over and pin with me! I’d love to know if this is something you use?

Spice Inventory

Last but not least, spice inventory makes things SO easy! I have created a super easy to use inventory list, that will be coming soon(sneak peek below). It allows you to list out exactly what spices you have on hand, the quantity, and the expiration date. This way, when you are making your grocery list, you can easily look at your list to see if you have something, and then you aren’t sifting through your spices last minute. I don’t know about you, but I tend to overlook the spices I have when making my list, and then I get home and realize I already had four bottles of garlic salt. Is this something you use or have been looking for? Want some FREE printables? Head on over to my Printables page for some great items.

I hope this post was useful to you! I really enjoy organizing these much-used spaces and really making it the most useful space it can be. I would love to know down below what your spice cabinet looks like. Is it put together, or do things fall out when you open the cabinet? If you need any advice, please comment down below, and I will help calm some of the chaos.
