Do you struggle with a cluttered workspace that leaves no room for actual work? Need some ideas on how to start the process of purging a chaotic space? This impressive work desk decluttering process will give you the cleaning and organizing motivation you need, to tackle your most chaotic space.
Most people, when asked what they want to do on Mother’s day would say things like a nap, no interaction with children of any kind, or shopping. But what I really wanted to do was… complete an impressive work desk decluttering project! If you don’t know me, I tend to get the ‘itch to switch’ about once a month. Last month’s big ITS was transitioning my office from up to downstairs, and this month was my desk. Check out my other decluttering posts for more inspiration, too!
It was cluttered with so many odds and ends of things pertaining to past jobs but not so much what I’m currently doing. I needed a fresh start and an easier time when looking for something I actually need.
If you didn’t know, I actually owned a home organization business a few years back, so I was able to use my tips and tricks from that time in my life to bring you this awesome post!! My first tip is to either:
- Empty everything out and put in one spot OR
- Go drawer by drawer
Before
For me, this time around, it worked better to go drawer by drawer, because I didn’t want to empty everything out. Once I did that, I reevaluated what each drawer would do and where I would put the most used items. I love using items I already have on hand to organize smaller items. In this photo, you’ll see I use a wooden sign as a container since I have so many lying around. I love reorganizing a well-used area pretty regularly because I get bored quite easily! It also helps the creative juices to flow, and I love that.
After
And here is the after! It’s so much nicer to work and makes me excited to get to my desk to create content for you! I can easily find my pens and paperclips, and was also able to throw things out that I didn’t need! I hope you enjoyed this impressive work desk decluttering project and that it inspires you to tackle your workspace in your home.
