Do you struggle to get through the day, with all the responsibilities piling up? Feel like no matter what you do, nothing is helping? I am here to tell you that the everyday mundane & intentionality with your family can coexist. You just have to realize what’s most important. I hope this glimpse into what I see every day with anxiety brings you some hope on your darkest days.

Laundry basket over flowing

Something I get asked a lot is how do I turn the everyday life into intentional time with my family. And let me tell you, I am still trying to figure it all out. It’s easy to look at Instagram and see how perfect everything is, but behind the squares, people are struggling to get through the day. I tend to complain about all the chores I do daily, and most of the time I don’t even do them. Then the house gets neglected and that’s when I feel a major tug on my depression and anxiety. But it only takes one moment of clarity to put it all into perspective.

Sure, the laundry piles up and the dishes drive me crazy. But how blessed am I to even have clothes to wear and food to feed my family. How blessed am I to have little children in our home running around and laughing, when so many have lost their loved ones. A lot of the times I can be pretty dang selfish when others are wishing they had just an ounce of what I do.

Ways To Power Through

When I get into a funk, I blast some music, get out of my chair and have my daughter yell loving instructions at me, “Get up, turn off Netflix and do some laundry!!!!!” I hear her yell that and I’m ready to go. Seems silly, but just that bit of motivation is so inspiring. I want my kiddos to see me making good habits because, in turn, it makes them form healthy habits too. My daughter loves a checklist of items to do, but if no one else is doing any of them, what will make her excited to power through? Here are a few ways I have found to help when I need that little boost of energy:

  • Diffuse essential oils (I use Young Living). If you’d like to read about my journey with anxiety and essential oils, you’ll love my post all about it.
  • Lock myself in our room and just breath
  • Make some comfort food
  • Watch Netflix
  • Get up early and have some me-time

My advice to you is to just take a deep breath and take it one day at a time. Yes, I have more down days then I do up days, and the laundry piles up quicker then I can say Potato, but, I am so blessed to be given the role of Mama + Wife, and that will tide me over better than anything else. I am always here if you need someone to vent to or ask for advice. I will try my best to give you the best thoughts possible, and I pray you can turn the mundane life into an incredible blessing.
