Ideas For How to Rearrange a Space
These 5 steps will help take a room in your home from overwhelming to manageable.
- Remove all trash and clutter until all that’s left is the furniture you are rearranging
- Make a gameplan or where you want everything to go
- Start on one end of the room and start with the heavy items first
- Take this time to vaccum under any tables or chairs
- After everything is where you want it, clean out drawers and shelves and give it a good purge
My favorite part of the process is giving everything a good once over and only keeping what I truly use.
Benefits of Rearranging a Space
There are countless benefits to rearranging a space, but here are my top 3. I would love to know what yours are, so let me know down below and let’s connect.
- Creative outlet
- Releases tension
- Cures my boredom for a moment
Anxiety is another big reason I rearrange a space, but it isn’t the case for everyone. Just know you are not alone if that is the case.
How to Rearrange a Small Space
Small spaces can be tricky, especially if you have more things than you do room. My number one tip is to purge and eliminate a lot of the items you have, but don’t need any longer.
Next, make sure the room works for what you are needing it for. Don’t try and have too many of one thing in there.
For example, use an office as an office. Don’t try to fit a bed in there, a mini. and more. Unless you absolutely have to merge them, try and keep it simple.

FAQ about rearranging
The Mayo Clinic defines OCD simply as characterized by unreasonable thoughts and fears (obsessions) that lead you to do repetitive behaviors (compulsions). OCD might also manifest as a need for order and symmetry, constantly rearranging their furniture and belongings, or hoarding things. Or in my case, I just get bored very easily and need to change things up.
100% yes. Being in control of your space is such a great way to be creative and to let some tension and anxiety out in a healthy way.
Interior designers say that you should think about decorating bedrooms every three to four years as trends are always changing and your room will look outdated. But you can do it as often as you’d like.
Use contrasts and light colors, open up your space with creative lighting, use mirrors, and maximize your room arrangement.
